Energy Efficiency
U-values and glazing options
The U-value measures thermal transmission: lower = less heat lost in winter and less entering in summer. The Spanish Technical Building Code (CTE) sets a maximum Uw of 2.7 W/m²K for climate zone B4 (Alicante); our windows are far below that threshold.
Double glazing 4/16/4
Uw ≈ 1.1–1.3 W/m²K. Standard option with excellent performance-to-cost ratio for the Mediterranean climate. Optional argon-filled cavity improves to ~1.0.
Triple glazing
Uw ≈ 0.8 W/m²K. Recommended for north-facing facades, passive houses, or homes with high heating/cooling consumption. Extra weight: reinforced hinges to consider.
Acoustic performance
PVC is intrinsically a better acoustic insulator than aluminium. With standard 4/16/4 double glazing we reduce outdoor noise by 30–35 dB. If you live in a high-noise area (near Alicante-Elche airport, main roads, nightlife zones) we offer asymmetric acoustic glazing (6/16/4 or with acoustic PVB lamination) that reaches 40–42 dB attenuation.
Cortizo system: Spanish quality
We mainly work with Cortizo profiles, the leading Spanish manufacturer with their factory in Padrón (A Coruña) and European certifications (CE marking EN 14351-1, ISO 9001). Cortizo profiles combine excellent thermal and acoustic performance with careful aesthetic finishes (RAL colours, wood-effect surfaces, bespoke coatings) and full manufacturer warranty. We also work with Aluplast when requested by the client.
Installation process and on-site time
1. Measurement
On-site visit: we measure opening by opening, check existing fixings and verify whether blind counterweights affect the replacement.
2. Manufacturing
Made-to-measure at the Cortizo factory. Lead time 2–3 weeks. RAL colour or wood effect of your choice. We notify you 48 h before the install date.
3. Removal and install
We remove the old window and fit the new one the same day, one window at a time. The home is always closed at the end of each day.
4. Sealing and finish
Perimeter sealing with neutral silicone, architraves and cleanup. A typical home (6–8 windows) is completed in 1–2 working days.
How disruptive is the work?
Minimal: we work window by window, removing the opening only just before fitting the new one. No need to move out. We protect floors, furniture and curtains with dust sheets. At the end of each day, every window is closed and working. The heavy-work window (dust, noise) is concentrated in the old-window removal moment - around 30 minutes per opening.
